Despite the similarities I had to give Archangel's Blade the extra half star because I enjoyed the characters and their romance more than I have the Raphael and Elena pairing. Perhaps there was some subconscious "avuncular" association I had with these 3 individuals - like they were the favorite old uncles who were nonthreatening and wise in their own ways. There's a discussion on the Amazon boards about that age when kids feel they're beyond picture books, but may not feel ready for chapter books. Thank you, thank you, thank, you Lisa. Any animal lover will love the pictures and the beautiful story. The ocean was the home of the first plants and animals. And in a day and age when children watch far too much animation, it’s refreshing to see photos of real animals set in real places – magically placed there by an illustrator who takes imagination to the next level.
