Indian Institute of Metals. He has also authored three books. CHATTERJEE, AMITA metallurgical engineer from Banaras Hindu University, AMIT CHATTERJEE was awarded the Doctorate of
This authoritative account covers the entire spectrum from iron ore to finished steel. It begins by tracing the history of iron and steel production, right from the earlier days to today s world of oxygen steelmaking, electric steelmaking, secondary steelmaking and continuous casting. The physicochemical fundamental concepts of chemical equilibrium, activity-composition relationships, and structure-properties of molten metals are introduced before going into details of transport phenomena, i.e. kinetics, mixing and mass transfer in ironmaking and steelmaking pro-cesses. Particular emphasis is laid on the understanding of the fundamental principles of the processes and their application to the optimisation of actual processes. Modern developments in blast furnaces, including modelling and process control are discussed along with an introduction to the alternative methods of ironmaking. In the area of steelmaking, BOF plant practice including pre-treatment of hot metal, metallurgical f
The book has an excellent account of the trip, the politicking for funds, the dangers of the field, and the excitement of making a scientific difference.
Besides being a history, and a personal account, however, _The Lost Dinosaurs of Egypt_ tells how paleontology has been done in the past and is done now. This book is without a doubt the only accurate account of the horrible murders in Gainesville, FL. However this minor flaw comes from Clendinen's desire to portray every nuance of his characters - and by the end of the book, you feel you know these people.
I was able to relate to this book because my own father moved into Canterbury after Clendinen's mother passed away. This book has given me the ideas I needed to finish several pages that need that little something extra!. They totally have no integrity at all. This one keeps you guessing.
