I wish the author would provide either in list or graphical format, a time line of the person's life. Have an excellent experience! Definitely recommended!. In this reviewer's opinion, Josephs has delved more deeply and with greater insight into Heaviside's work than anyone else. Nahin's writing style is good, with quite a few gossipy details; the book is nicely illustrated, and has been well proof-read (except that André-Marie Ampère is always shorn of all accents). Not the best book on the subject.. A very pleasing book.. It is not a hobbyist approach, so lightweight students may find it too scientific, but for those interested in the meat of color theory, this is a good starting place. There were brief mentions of the Heaviside Operational Calculus and some of his clever tricks. I am more than half way through my Mechanical Vibrations class and so far it has been a huge help, especially given the lack of a solutions manual.
